It was back-to-school for the Stagedoor gang this week, with the promise of a VERY busy term. There is an awful lot to look forward to, including a total of 7 shows on the Everyman main stage, kicking off with The Play That Goes Wrong. Our unique partnership with the theatre means that our students pay absolutely nothing for this – it’s all part of the Stagedoor experience. One of the main advantages this offers is that it allows our students to see productions they might otherwise have overlooked. Later in the term, we’ll be watching Flashdance, starring Strictly Come Dancing’s Joanne Clifton, Quartet, which is being produced by Everyman Chief Executive Mark Goucher, World War 2 Drama Pressure and a range  of other large scale plays and musicals. We are extremely lucky to have such brilliant opportunities. Other highlights this term will include spending time in the wardrobe department at the theatre and running Front of House at the King’s Theatre in Gloucester as it hosts Hammerpuzzle shows The Tales of Hans Christian Andersen and A Gloucestershire Midwinter next week.

We’ll also be working towards three BTEC units – Skills and Techniques for Live Performance, Arts in the Community and Singing Techniques.

One of the key opportunities Stagedoor offers that other, similar courses cannot, is a termly public performance in a professional space. This term, we will be performing The Changing Room by Chris Bush as part of the National Theatre Connections project. We’ll be performing in the Everyman Studio on Tuesday 27th and Wednesday 28th February. Tickets are on sale from the Everyman Box Office priced at just £6. Our previous show sold out, so get your tickets soon! As part of our Arts in the Community unit, we will also be performing at Pittville Pump Rooms in Cheltenham, on Saturday 10th March, as part of an event to mark International Women’s Day. We have been commissioned by the Everyman to create something for this annual event – another example of how Stagedoor gives student a more realistic window into the world of Performing Arts than other courses can. Check back for updates on both of these exciting projects.
